Sarah's inspiration stemmed from her recent trip to New York City. It is safe to say that Sarah is a big city dreamer, thus NYC was an obvious choice for the direction of her original textile design. From this, Sarah designed a repeat pattern offered in three different colour ways; first using her original colour palette as personally desired, second to create a triadic colour scheme, and third to produce an optical illusion known as vibrating boundaries.

Hand-rendered motifs using markers then image traced in Adobe Illustrator.

Sarah created a repeat pattern using her bicycle motif combined with clouds and birds, depicting a fantasy-like experience. Her vision was to reproduce the feeling of daydreaming in the middle of Central Park, allowing herself to let go and get lost in the exciting possibilities that surround her.

Sarah displays her textile design mocked-up on a pillow, however the potential of this print is limitless and may be used in accordance with a client's desire.

Sarah carefully selects the appropriate shades and tints of various colours chosen to continue the tone of her textile design throughout her collection.

Sarah applied her strong understanding of colour theory to her design producing a cohesive, playful, and aesthetically pleasing collection that transports the viewer approximately 750 kilometres to central Manhattan.
